Electronics & RF Training Laboratory

National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla

Akademika has commissioned a dedicated Electronics & RF Training Laboratory at the prestigious National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla.
This advanced learning environment equips cadets with practical experience in RF fundamentals, microwave circuits, antenna behavior, and high-frequency measurements  building the technical confidence required for future roles across Army, Navy & Air Force communication domains.

Cadets learn using real hardware such as RF circuit trainers, antenna measurement systems, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and microstrip transmission line testbeds, enabling a complete theory → hardware → field application learning model.

Core RF Skills Developed

RF Circuit Design & Impedance Matching : Cadets analyze microstrip networks, transmission line discontinuities, and BJT/power amplifier behavior up to 2 GHz using our RFL-RFT platform

Spectrum Monitoring & Signal Analysis : Live spectrum monitoring from 9 kHz to 3.6 GHz with EMI pre-compliance capability, using the SA3600TG Spectrum Analyzer

S-Parameter Evaluation & RF Validation : Hands-on S11/S21, return loss, VSWR, and Smith chart testing on antennas, filters & RF components using the VNA-3000 system

Transmission Line Characterization : Standing waves, guided wavelength, reflection coefficients, and impedance behavior using our motorized Microstrip Transmission Line Trainer

RF Signal Generation & Power Measurement : PLL-based RF synthesized source with modulation (AM/FM/PSK) and filter/coupler response evaluation using RFL-RFGD

Antenna Measurement & Field Analysis : Radiation patterns, polarization behavior, inverse-square law, and gain characteristics using Advanced Motorized Antenna Trainer

Electromagnetic Simulation & Mission-Ready System Design : 3D antenna modeling, radar cross-section (RCS) analysis & propagation modeling with EM.Cube Simulation Suite

Training Outcomes for Cadets : Cadets master:

1. RF energy propagation + spectrum behavior
2. Impedance matching for maximum power transfer
3. Real-time antenna performance evaluation
4. Secure defence-grade communication fundamentals
5. Hands-on measurements used in EW, SDR & C4ISR systems
6. Simulation-driven RF design for field deployment
7. From foundational RF theory to operational competence
8. Cadets learn using the same instrumentation they will later command in service.

Strategic Impact This lab strengthens India’s defence technical preparedness by ensuring:

1. Better-trained officer-cadets entering signal, communication & electronic warfare streams
2. Industry-standard RF competency before commissioning
3. Capability to support future warfare domains including cyber-electronic operations

With 35 years of legacy in Technical Education, Akademika  extends its expertise to Defence and Skill development, building Innovative, Reliable Training Systems for the next generation of Learners.
