IoT & Embedded Systems Laboratory
Government Engineering College (GEC) Madhubani – Bihar
Akademika has set up a modern IoT and Embedded Systems Laboratory at GEC Madhubani to support hands-on learning in wireless sensor networks, embedded IoT development, and real-time data acquisition systems. Students explore network formation, sensor interfacing, radio configuration, and live packet transmission using Akademika’s patented S-WiFi wireless network stack, which supports multi-hop communication and self-healing topologies.
What Students Learn
1. Wireless communication fundamentals (802.11-based)
2. Real-time packet transmission & network behavior analysis
3. Measuring communication metrics: RSSI/LQI, PDR, latency
4. Multi-hop star/tree/linear topologies within the lab space
5. Embedded sensor integration (Temperature, Pressure, Humidity)
6. Remote data monitoring & IoT application development
Lab Infrastructure Installed Wireless Sensor Network Testbed
1. 10 × NPD nodes + 1 × Master Device + Wi-Fi AP
2. Each node equipped with:
3. OLED display, sensors, ADC, PWM, relay, DIO
4. Up to 20.5 dBm transmit power & –90 dBm sensitivity
5. 2.4 GHz radio, Xtensa 32-bit processor
Wireless Ginie GUI for radio & network experimentation
Core Experimentation
1. Packet delivery ratio & communication load measurement
2. Indoor vs outdoor range testing
3.Effect of distance & hops on signal delay
4. Throughput analysis vs payload size
5. Multi-topology network efficiency evaluation
6. IoT sensor-based application development
Skill Development Outcomes Students become industry-ready for roles like:
1. IoT System Developer
2. Embedded Hardware & Firmware Engineer
3. Wireless Communication Technician
4. Data Acquisition & Network Monitoring Engineer
This lab empowers Bihar’s engineering students with practical skills aligned to smart-city and Industry 4.0 environments.
